| Electrokinetics is an emerging technology for the remediation of contaminated soils. As a green remediation method, it is particularly effective to soils of low permeability. Bioremediation has been performed in various contaminated sites for tens of years, due to its advantages of cost-competitive, minimum site destruction, permanent cleanup of pollution, and combining with other treatment techniques easily. The combining of electrokinetic remediation and bioremediation techniques show a bright future and has achieved much progress during the last decade. This paper presents a mini review of such a technique with classification and discussion according to different types of electrokinetic remediation. (1) Remediation combining bioleaching and electrokinetics. (2) Remediation combining the transportation of bacteria or pollutant by electrokinetics. (3) Remediation combining electrokinetic stimulating the activity and growth of bacteria. (4) Remediation combining electrokinetic injection bacteria and nutrition.
