The SONO filtration system does not foster pathogenic bacteria on its own. In order to investigate the issue of bacteria growth in SONO filter, recently Village Education Resource Center (VERC), a nongovernmental organization of Bangladesh tested 193 SONO filter 61 locations in one of the remotest field, Sitakundu, Bangladesh . The report shows of the 264 tests, 248 were found to have zero count of ttc/100 mL (ttc- thermo tolerance coliform) and 16 with 2 ttc/100 mL.
